Tackling the HSC: Videos to help with programming for The Tempest and Hag-Seed

Because the syllabus is so new, and as a new teacher teaching Stage 6 with no experience or teaching background, here are some really great videos that can help with programming and lesson planning.

As teachers, we can always draw from others - be it other teachers or even online tutors catering to HSC students! They are very helpful in explaining how to go about discovering the texts and tackle HSC examination questions and topics in relation to the Module. Though these videos has taking the HSC as a focus and "teaches to the test", they have content which I found would help/guide me in seeing what I may have missed out in my own teaching programme. Through these videos, I may actually retrieve important bits and highlight them to my student, take some parts of the session and turn it into a lesson that would suit my classroom of learners.

These videos by Ignite HSC serve as a great resource when you are springboards to how you can clearly explain and teach our students themes.

This first video explains Margaret Atwood's understanding of Shakespeare's The Tempest and how she's re-explored the key themes in Hag-Seed.

Very clear explanations and great ideas on how to go about explaining certain themes to our students.

On Metatheatre and Metatextuality.
Why Atwood decided to write an adaptation of Shakespeare's The Tempest

This other online tutor, Matt Smedley, explains in great detail what's expected from students for the HSC in context of Hag-Seed and The Tempest.
