Incursion and Excursions... and Digital Excursions!

Bell Shakespeare is an organization in Sydney that produces the plays of Shakespeare in a way that is relevant and exciting to Australian audiences. They also do school tours and educational programmes. They have previously produced The Tempest in 2013 and 2015, but haven't done so in a while. However, there's always a chance that they may decide to run it again in the near future. It would be a magical experience for students to watch it at the Sydney Opera House and compare it to what it would've been like watching it hundreds of years ago at The Globe.

School Programmes (Incursions)

Bell Shakespeare Incursion for Schools
This year, 2019, Bell Shakespeare has a few programmes that might relate to Module A. A short excursion or incursion  I think would no doubt be welcome! Two of the programmes I feel would add to our study of the two texts are:

(1) "Words, Words, Words" - a celebration of Shakespeare’s language, demonstrating literary techniques in action

and

(2) Shakespeare: The Human Experience -  a stunning insight into the myriad ways Shakespeare captured humanity in all its glory and flaws.

Digital Excursions

To add to the technological savvy age that we're in, Bell Shakespeare also has what they call "digital excursion" experiences where they start to use interactive whiteboards and video conferencing. They use video conferencing and the stage of the playhouse will be linked with classrooms around NSW. After watching a play, students are able to engage in a Q&A with the actors.
